七夕节是中国的传统节日，起源于汉朝，为每年农历七月初七。

七夕节在古代是属于女性的节日，

很多女性会在七夕夜献祭，通过穿针引线、制作小物品，陈列瓜果等方式向织女星祈求心灵手巧，

In ancient China, the Qixi Festival was a festival for the women. Many women offered sacrifices on the evening thereof, as well as prayed to the Weaver Fairy for ingenuity by threading needles, making small items and displaying fruits.

因此七夕节又名“乞巧节”。

This practice is why the Qixi Festival is sometimes referred to as the “Begging Festival.”
