霜降是同一位神仙姐姐有关的节气。这位神仙姐姐呢名叫吴洁。她的另一个名字你肯定听过，那就是青女。据说她是砍桂树的那位吴刚的妹妹，是掌管霜雪的女神。

Frost's Descent is a solar term about a beautiful fairy. The name of this fairy is Wu Jie. You must have heard another name of her that is Qingnv. It is said that she is the younger sister of Wu Gang, the one who cuts down osmanthus trees. She is the fairy in charge of frost and snow.

《淮南子·天文训》有云：“至秋三月，地气不藏，乃收其杀，百虫蛰伏，静居闭户，青女乃出，以降霜雪。”高诱注：“青女，天神，青霄玉女，主霜雪也。”

这年九月十四日，她下凡来到人间，站在青要山中心最高峰上，手抚一把七弦琴，清音徐出，霜粉雪花随着颤动的琴弦飘然而下，洒在大地上。霜冻雪封，掩埋掉世间一切不洁。

On September 14 （lunar calendar）of that year, she came down to human world and stood on the highest peak in the center of Qingyao Mountain, plucking the guqin. The clear sound of the instrument echoed in the mountain. In the meantime, frost and snowflakes descended with the trembling strings and sprinkled on the earth. Soon frost and snow covered up the earth and buried all the uncleanness in the world.
